  • 1 cup sticky (eg. peanut butter, banana, apple sauce, pumpkin puree, wet coconut flakes)
  • 1 cup small nut pieces (eg. walnut, pecan, almond, peanut, hazelnut)
  • 4 tsp extracts/spices (eg. almond extract, cinnamon, cocoa, pumpkin spice mix)
  • .75 cup dried fruit (eg. cherries, apricots, raisins, apple slices, dates)

  • 1 cup sticky (eg. peanut butter, banana, apple sauce, pumpkin puree, wet coconut flakes)
  • 1 cup small nut pieces (eg. walnut, pecan, almond, peanut, hazelnut)
  • 4 tsp extracts/spices (eg. almond extract, cinnamon, cocoa, pumpkin spice mix)
  • .75 cup dried fruit (eg. cherries, apricots, raisins, apple slices, dates)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350º F (175º C).
  2. Combine the oats, vanilla, oil, liquid sweet, optional sticky, optional nut pieces, and optional extracts/spices in a mixing bowl until there aren’t any dry oats left and the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  3. Place the mixture on a large, flat, rimmed baking sheet and flatten as much as possible.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes then remove from the oven to stir and flatten again. Bake/stir/flatten for progressively smaller baking intervals until the oats are done (I usually bake for 15 minutes, 12 minutes, 8 minutes, 5 minutes, 5 minutes). The oats are done when they’re mostly dry (not chewy) and a golden brown color.  If all of the oats/nuts in one part of the pan are starting to look burnt, the rest are probably done.
  5. While the oats are baking, mince the optional dried fruit.
  6. When the oats are done baking, mix them with the optional minced dried fruit.
